It seems like every new year comes with new websites, browsers, and technology. If you’re sick of Google tracking your every move or getting too many of those ads that just happen to be geared towards exactly what you’ve recently searched, it’s best to go with an alternative search engine. They’re safe, secure, and produce great results. Let’s take a look at a review of five search engines in 2020 to see what some of your options are.

DuckDuckGo

Starting us off is a search engine called DuckDuckGo. This is easily one of the closest search engines to Google, but there are some major differences. One of the main differences is that DuckDuckGo doesn’t track your IP address. None of your private information is recorded and DuckDuckGo has cookies that refresh after three months of no use. If you don’t want to have to learn how to use an entirely new search engine to keep your information safe and secure, DuckDuckGo is formatted so closely to Google that you shouldn’t have any issues using it for your search inquiries.

Ecosia

If you’re environmentally-minded for the new year, Ecosia is going to be your new favorite privacy-oriented search engine. Not only do the servers for this search engine use renewable energy, the company claims to plant a single tree for every 45 searches. You won’t have to worry about your search inquiries being tracked or your information being sold to a company without your knowledge. You can also watch the numbers of trees planted in total increase in a live count that is placed on the home page.

Hot.com

The third search engine of 2020 that you may want to look into is Hot.com. This is another privacy-oriented search engine that keeps the user in mind. You can search for anything your heart desires without the added concern of your history being tracked or getting targeted advertisements based on your searches. There’s no reason to keep using Google or Bing with options like this. Hot.com is easy to navigate and gives you the results you’re looking for with ease.

SearchTeam

SearchTeam is a unique search engine, as it requires users to get a group of people together in order to use it. You and your online friends will belong in a SearchSpace that is based around a specific genre or niche. You can then all make search inquiries that are relevant to the topic and search without worry. There is also the ability to add links to the group, upload documents, and more. Just make sure the people in your SearchSpace are friends and family that you trust. This enhances the security that the search engine already brings.

Hotbot

The last search engine we’ll be talking about is Hotbot. This is a really great option for those wanting a variety of search result choices, without having your security compromised. Hotbot uses a handful of popular search engines to bring you the top results on the web. Since Hotbot acts as a middle-man, you won’t have to worry about any of the popular search engines getting your IP address or tracking your information. You’ll be able to get results quicker as well, which saves you time to continue on with more important parts of your day.
